A Cup of Milk(一杯のミルク)
One breath shared
One light stays
In the quiet, we remain
A cup of warmth
No need to speak
Just the silence that we keep
Milk and time
Drift and shine
We’re just passing stars aligned
Passing stars aligned…
Passing stars… aligned…
A Cup of Milk [English Translation]
Someone gently offers
A steaming cup of white
In a universe held by my palms
Kindness slowly melts away
No words are really needed
A softened look is all it takes
Just being there together
That alone feels warm enough
Before the milk grows cold
If we share just one small sip
The chill, the worries, little by little
Drift a bit farther away
Happiness, I think, smells just like this
Being able to breathe beside you
Someone’s smiling face
Lights a flame deep in my chest
Even half-forgotten scenes
Fade back in, softly colored
A quiet “thank you”
Unexpectedly sinks in deep
Even without trying to say it
Some things still reach the heart
Before the milk grows cold
If I wrap my hands around yours
The days gone by, the stumbles too
Somehow feel dear to me
Happiness can be born without taking anything
A single drop of miracle we share
One breath shared
One light stays
In the quiet, we remain
A cup of warmth
No need to speak
Just the silence that we keep
Milk and time
Drift and shine
We’re just passing stars aligned
Passing stars aligned…
Passing stars… aligned…
Liner Notes
“A Cup of Milk” was a track that felt promising even at the instrumental stage.
There was a strong sense that something was already there.
At the same time, it may have been better suited as an instrumental piece, because once lyrics were added, it took some time to fully grasp the song and bring it to completion.
In the end, choosing the form of a duet—rather than focusing solely on lyrical complexity—allowed the track to settle naturally and find its balance.
These days, I mostly drink hot coffee, but I still clearly remember the taste of steaming hot milk on cold days when I was a child.
Warm, gentle, and quietly comforting.
This song was created while recalling that memory.
I hope even a small part of that warmth comes through in the sound.
