About this app

Screenshot Lighter converts images in your iPhone Screenshots album to high-quality HEIC while keeping visual quality.

You can compare size before and after compression before saving. Processing stays on your device; nothing is uploaded to a server.

How to use

  1. Open the app and allow photo access (read and write are required).
  2. Select the screenshots you want to lighten. You can choose up to 50 at a time.
  3. Tap “Compress and compare size.” Nothing is written to your library yet.
  4. Check the savings, then save. If you haven’t purchased, you’ll need to watch an ad or buy ad removal.
  5. After saving, choose whether to delete the originals. Free space increases only after deletion.

FAQ

Why does the app need full photo access?
To list the Screenshots album, check original file sizes, save converted images, and delete originals. A limited picker that only returns selected photos can’t cover album browsing and deletion.

I saved, but storage didn’t free up.
Adding lighter images doesn’t remove the originals. Delete the originals in the confirmation step after saving to free space.

How many images can I process at once?
Up to 50. Split larger batches into multiple runs.

I don’t want to see ads.
The one-time “Remove Ads” purchase turns off rewarded ads at save time. You can save either by watching an ad or after this purchase.

Are images sent off the device?
No. Conversion stays on your device. For ad delivery, Google AdMob may process device or ad-related information. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Are only screenshots supported?
The initial version supports the Screenshots album only. Camera photos are often already in lighter formats and are not included.
